time:2020-12-22

Recently, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China has released the notification of the first batch of the National Level First-Class Courses. Virtual simulation project of metal carbonyl based polyoxometalate: single-crystal synthesis and catalytic properties studies, a course by School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Henan University, has been successfully enrolled as one of the National Level First-Class Courses.

To implement the requirements of the National Conference on Undergraduate Education in the New Era, and actively explore the new direction of education and teaching reform, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has developed a virtual simulation experimental course for undergraduate students in early 2019. This course is based on the scientific research papers published by graduate students in the key laboratory of polyoxometalate chemistry in Henan Province and modified its experimental process to adapt to the educational characteristics of undergraduate students.

There are 1 theory study module and 3 experimental modules in this virtual simulation course, students can learn this course in a specified order, or they can choose a single module to investigate. Such a flexible learning pattern has been well received by students and faculty not only from the college but also from the students from the internet. As of November 5, this virtual simulation experimental course has served more than 3,200 students and teachers nationwide and received 2,655 excellent ratings.

This virtual simulation course is a new teaching achievement of the university and another new height of the curriculum construction. School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering will take this as a new starting point, strive for better development of undergraduate courses.
